Oh, hello there, yes we are still taking photos if anyone wondered :-))) Really missed our blog but we've got some wonderful news and needed time to sort them out. Spring seems to greet us this year a bit later, however we've managed to capture some little beauties in our local gardens. Love the vibrant colours. It's springtime people!

Saw these, couldn't resist, bought them, and they make our mornings. Aren't they the prettiest? 

AT MUM'S

Our parents have the most stunning garden we've ever seen. It's not huge, but it's immaculately cared and loved on every footstep. It's home of various seasonal plants: roses, cosmos, bleeding hearts, even strawberries. But what we love most about it is tranquility and serenity the garden offers once we step in.

 

NESS BOTANIC GARDENS

Owned by the University of Liverpool, this beautiful place is home of diversified plant collection in the UK. Any nature lovers will find their heaven in this spot. We couldn't get out of it quickly, and we did not want to at all. Revisit is highly recommended.

TULIPMANIA

Yeah, it's an obsession that is probably incurable and infectious :-) But what's more obsessive, or rather compulsive is we usually buy the flowers that are partly dried out and try to revive them. It's so rewarding when we see them come into life again.

 VIETNAMESE ENGAGEMENT & WEDDING

What I love most in the traditional Vietnamese engagement and wedding is the attire. The bride-to-be wears ao dai, a tight fitting silk tunic worn with pantaloons (usually in red and gold tones). "Symbolically, the ao dai invokes nostalgia and timelessness associated with a gendered image of the homeland..", wrote Nhi T. Lieu. (I had ao dai on for our formal engagement party too :p) Nowadays, the Vietnamese brides choose to wear ao dai only during the engagement, and the Western style white wedding gown for the reception. Before the wedding, the groom and his family has to come over to the bride's home to ask for her parents' permission to receive the bride. This ritual usually goes together with many gifts for the bride's family such as: betel nuts, fruits, cakes..

It is a beautiful tradition that is still practised in many Vietnamese homes. But I guess it doesn't matter how well you are dressed or how many presents you want to give, it's all about mutual respect, acceptance and love that a marriage can last, after all.
